My love for clothing was influenced by my nana. She was always so put together. She had accessories and shoes for every outfit, and I often tried to match her swagger. This love for clothing followed me into my first retail job as a young adult and then post-college as an independent stylist with cabi.
Although there was a fun part of clothing, I also used clothing to affirm my convictions. Growing up, I was always told that because of some part of my identity (race, gender, etc.), it would be harder for me to succeed. As a result, I often had self-doubt every time I aimed for my goals despite evidence that I had what it took to succeed. However, my nana ensured that my attire commanded respect, so I was taken seriously when presented with opportunities. And now, decades later, it remains true that when my wardrobe aligned with where I was headed, my mindset was confident, so my actions followed.After nearly 2 decades of always helping people feel their iconic selves by finding wardrobes that align with their goals, I finally decided to become a personal stylist to help more women say, "I Can Overcome New Issues & Challenges... with style".
